PET DOGS AND CATS PERMIT APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

In an effort to facilitate clients and visitors to bring along their pets into Belize, we assist in the application for them to receive their permit to enter the country.

Take note that when you take them out, permit in the US or any other country is your responsibility, we only assist in bringing them into Belize.

DOCUMENTS/INFORMATION REQUIRED

  1. Application Form (we will make the request on your behalf)
  2. Pet Photograph(s)
  3. Pet Medical Information/Background
  4. Pet’s Breed, Age, Sex and ID # (if applicable)
  5. Pet’s Country of Origin
  6. Address of Importer and Exporter
  7. Port of Entry

The permit takes one week to be processed and the information is forwarded to your port of entry awaiting your arrival so the pets can be cleared and granted entrance.

US $55.00 is charged for any additional pets to be brought into Belize at the same time for the same owner.

CONDITIONS TO ACCOMPANY IMPORT PERMIT

  1. The pet animal is to be accompanied by a veterinary certificate issued by a registered Veterinarian in the country or origin, and attesting

THAT:

  1. The pet animal is in good health, free of signs of infectious and contagious disease, free of ticks and has no fresh wound or wound in the process of healing.

  2. The pet animal has been vaccinated against rabies with an approved vaccine not less than one month or more than one year prior to the date of exportation (date of vaccination and type of vaccine must be indicated).

  3. The pet animal has been treated against endoparasites and ectoparasites within thirty (30) days of exportation.

OTHER CONDITIONS

  1. The veterinary certificate is valid for seven (7) days from date of issue.

  2. The pet animal and accompanying documents are to be inspected by a Quarantine Inspector at the time of arrival at the point of entry in Belize.

  3. The cage is to be new or clean and disinfected prior to use for the exportation of the pet animal.

  4. The pet animal may, at the owner’s expense, be placed under official quarantine for a period not less than thirty (30) days after the date of entry into Belize.

  5. It is strongly recommended that:
    (A) all dogs be vaccinated against Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis and Parvovirus
    (B) all cats are vaccinated against Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis Calici Virus and Panlencopaenia.
